Gordon Henry Mattis

1942~2024

Gordon Henry Mattis of Coronation, Alberta passed away at the Coronation Care Centre on Friday October 11, 2024, at the age of 82 years.

He was born on March 23, 1942, in Hanna, Alberta to parents Henry and Florence Mattis. Gordon was raised in the Garden Plains district and attended school in Netherby and Dundee.

Over the years Gordon worked as a derrickhand on the oil rigs and also as a farm hand. He enjoyed working on machinery and tinkering with old vehicles.

Gordon is survived by his son Henry Gordon Mattis and his daughter Gail Ann Mattis; sisters: Inza Carls of Barrhead, Sandra Callahan-Rawe (Randy) of Killam, Rosemary Jones (George) of Hanna, and Doris Edwards (Gordon) of Edmonton.  Gordon is also survived by many other special family members.

He was predeceased by his infant daughter Sharon Rose, brother Dennis Mattis, parents Henry and Florence Mattis, brothers-in-law Tom Jones and John Carls and nieces Christa Edwards and Wendy Carls.

If desired, donations in memory of Gordon can be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A private graveside service will be held at the Hanna Cemetery at a later date.
