Obituary of Karen Idillia Pfaff (nee Carson)

It is with heavy hearts that our dear Karen (KC); Mom, Wife, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Coworker and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in the Hanna Long Term Care facility on Friday May 10^th, 2024, at the age of 74 years.

Karen was born in Drumheller and was raised on her family’s farm north of Delia, AB.  Karen could be found riding her favorite horse, Diamond alongside her cousins Brenda and Judy during their summers together.  Her love and care of all animals and people continued throughout her life. Leaving the farm, she ventured to Calgary to pursue her career in nursing where she graduated from the LPN program in 1970.  After training, she settled into a 40-year career as a dedicated, valuable and compassionate (sometimes tardy) nurse at the Hanna Hospital.  Karen and Randy were married in 1979 and started their lives together where they raised their three girls.  Karen enjoyed travelling, concerts, horseback riding, reading, movies, games nights and was known far and wide for her delicious butter tarts.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Randy, her daughters; Kara Gross (Darrin) of Hanna, Tenielle Golby (Rich) of Scotfield and Randa Reed (André) of Hanna; her cherished grandchildren: Presley and George Reed. Also left to share in her memories are her siblings Pat Hoover and Doug Carson of Delia and brother and sister-in law Sandy and Margaret Pfaff of Red Deer. 

KC was predeceased by her parents George and Helen Carson, in laws Bill and Lura Pfaff, brother-in-law Art Hoover, sister-in-law Claire Carson and nephew Marcus. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the Delia Community Hall, Delia, Alberta.
