Obituary of Anne-Lise Skaaning

Anne-Lise (Lisa) Skaaning

August 28, 1945 – May 20, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anne-Lise (Lisa) Skaaning.  She was predeceased by her Father Knud “Aage” Skaaning, Brother Ken Skaaning, and Husband George Darichuk.  She leaves to mourn her memory her Mother Irene Skaaning, Brothers Bob Skaaning, Jack Skaaning and Kurt Skaaning, and Sister Linda Leslie.  Children Robert Darichuk, Mary Vivier (Jim Musto), Kathy (Mike) Fisher, and Rick (Michele) Goertzen along with 8 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren and numerous extended family members.

Lisa was a social butterfly who could find her niche in any social setting.  Always up for an adventure, Lisa was just waiting for covid restrictions to lift so she could travel across Canada in a convertible with her best friend, Peggy Anderson.  They were the real-life Thelma and Louise.  There wasn’t a day where they didn’t talk or meet for coffee.

Lisa enjoyed phone calls and visits with her family.  Any time spent catching up was a good time.  She loved to celebrate the successes of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  They will miss her phone calls, cards, and special gifts.

Lisa was generous with her time and resources.  She loved to volunteer with the Delia Seniors Center and often spoke of her responsibilities there.  She enjoyed being involved with different groups, giving wherever she could by cooking, creating scholarship certificates, helping with celebration of life ceremonies and much more.

Lisa’s life was not a smooth paved road.  Her road was bumpy with twists and turns that hurt and scarred her.  The thing that we admire most from her journey is the resilience that she showed no matter what she was facing.  She faced life head on and found joy in the simple things.  She loved deeply and did her best with everything she had.

Mom, we are proud of the life you lived and grateful for the time we had with you.  75 years is not long enough, and we will miss you terribly, but we know that we will see you again one day.

Rest in peace, Mama, you did great.

Due to COVID no funeral or celebration of life has been decided upon yet.
