Obituary of Barbara Ann Cheney

Barb passed away peacefully on March 24, 2021 at the Long Term Care facility in Hanna at the age of 79.

Barb was born on Oct. 10, 1941 to George and Daisy Hansen, one of seven children, on the family farm at Square Deal Alberta.

She was a devoted wife to Ralph and Mother of 5 children. Barb really enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, curling, golfing, fishing, and waterskiing, and as well as being an avid sports fan. She and her husband Ralph travelled to various destinations after retiring. She took up golf in the 90’s which she really enjoyed. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, leaving us beautiful memories.

Barb was deeply loved by her family and all that knew her. Barb is survived by her children Anne (Terry) Dell, Gordon (Donna) Cheney, Brad (Sheri) Cheney, Troy Cheney, Leasa (Brad) Zukewich. Grandchildren Melissa (Jarret) Sperling, Heather (Scott) Jeschke, Mike (Nikki) Dell, Shannon (Josh) Hoetmer, Russ (Shayla) Cheney, Ashley Cheney, Terri (Tyler) Cheney, Jamie (Grady) Cheney, Katelyn Zukewich, Madison Zukewich and six great grandchildren. Sister’s Elsie Munro and Virginia Collins, sister-in-law’s Linda Hansen and Ev Cheney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband Emil Radke and later her second husband of 49 years Ralph Cheney, parents George and Daisy Hansen, sisters Jean Griffith, Gwen Spence, Georgia Spence, and brother David Hansen.

Due to COVID restrictions a private ceremony will be held for family on Thursday April 1, 2021. Interment will occur at the Hanna Cemetery at a later date.
