Obituary of Lane Lloyd Rees

Lane Lloyd Rees “Tookers” was born on October 4th, 1974, in Hanna Alberta to Bill and Mary Anne. Lane was a hard working and memorable man, igniting laughs and thoughtful discussions whenever he entered a room. Lane passed away peacefully at 7:05 pm on April 19th, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 50. 

Lane prided himself on always having an open door for anyone who needed it. Whether it simply be a place to lay your head or a friend to confide in. From an early age Lane had a passion for carpentry just like his father. With lots of hard work and experience at the young age of 28 he became a foreman in Calgary for Stuart Olsen before going back home to Hanna to rejoin his father’s company, Big Country Construction, eventually adding business owner to his list of accomplishments. 

Lane loved spending his days around a fire, at a table with a deck of cards, or singing and dancing to his favourite songs. Lane Rees was a beloved father and friend, a man who will be missed by so many it cannot be expressed easily through simple words. His memory will live on through the skills and knowledge he passed down and also through the lives of his children who all exhibit the very best of him. 

Lane Rees is survived by and deeply missed by his father and mother Bill and Mary Anne, brother Lee, Lane’s fiancé Lesli, mother of his children Christine, his children Zachary (Haley), Taylor (Skyshun), Lucas, Damon and his grandson Axton. As well as his nephew, Brett (Delayne), and niece, Emma, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Lane will be greatly missed and never forgotten, his legacy will forever live on imprinted on all our hearts forever. 

A Come and Go Gathering - visiting and a luncheon will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Delia Community Hall.
