Obituary of Darlyne (Dar) Yvonne Nunweiler
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Darlyne (Dar) Yvonne Nunweiler, a beloved mother, Nana, Great-Nana, and friend, who left us on March 10, 2025, at the age of 85. Darlyne was born on May 12, 1939, in Windsor, Ontario, to William and Phyllis Klipper, who were married in 1937.
Darlyne was the firstborn child of William and Phyllis, welcoming her younger brother, Scott, in 1940. During World War II, William joined the military and relocated to Brandon, where he worked on aircraft engines. After the war, in 1945, the family moved to Calgary, where they continued to grow and thrive. In 1946, Darlyne's younger sister, Mariann, was born.
As Darlyne transitioned into her teenage years, her parents laid a foundation of hard work and commitment to family values, which greatly influenced her own approach to life. Darlyne was a standout student at her school, winning the Governor General’s Academic Medal in grade nine for the highest academic achievement. In 1951, Darlyne's family moved to Hanna, where her father, William, fulfilled his dream of owning a Ford dealership, solidifying their place in the community.
Darlyne married her loving husband, Vern, on November 11, 1957 and shortly after they settled in Hanna. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed two children, Darcy and David. Eventually Dar took on the role of bookkeeper at William’s garage, a job she kept until she retired.
Darlyne cherished family gatherings and made it a priority to spend quality time with her loved ones. She and Vern particularly enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, creating unforgettable memories on the road together for many years. Their shared love for curling, golfing and fishing brought them closer as they celebrated life’s simple pleasures.
In addition to her dedication to family, Darlyne was actively involved in her community. She served on the Library and Housing Authority Boards and had a deep appreciation for the arts. A talented and creative soul, she loved dancing, reading, crafting, and painting.
Darlyne was predeceased by her parents, William and Phyllis (Klipper), her loving husband, Vern, her sister-in-law Sandy Klipper, and her son-in-law Jack Taylor. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Darcy (Taylor), and her cherished grandchildren, Sydney (Taylor) and Logan (Taylor). Additionally, she is survived by her loving son, David (Dixie), and grandchildren Kelli and Kyle (Katie Bird), as well as her great-grandchildren, Lee, Savanna, and Kacey. She also leaves behind her brother, Scott Klipper, and sister, Mariann Garlock, along with their beloved families.
A celebration of Darlyne's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Darlyne's name, reflecting her spirit of giving and community service.
Rest in peace, dear Dar. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
